Kerry Millikin has had a superlative record internationally over the past two years with her Out and About, being the highest placed American at both the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games - Individual Olympic Bronze Medalist - and at the Open European Championships placing seventh. Kerry's riding career began at the age of eight in her backyard with her pony Kismet. Her keen interest intensified to carry her from Pony Club up to the international level of eventing. She has developed each of her horses from a young age. Out and About was purchased as a three-year-old failed racehorse. Never having more than one or two horses at a time enables the development of a strong partnership which Kerry believes is elemental to her success. Kerry first launched into the international eventing scene in 1987 when she won both the Rolex Kentucky International Three Day Event (USET Spring Championships) and the Chesterland International Three Day Event (USET Fall Championship) the same year with the same horse, The Pirate. Kerry is still the only rider to have accomplished such a feat. From 1985 through 1987 Kerry earned spots on the U.S. Equestrian Team with her HMS Dash to compete at the Boekolo CCI in Holland where the U.S. Team won and the Bialy Bor CCIO where the U.S. Team finished third, and at the Burghley International Horse Trials in England. In 1990, Kerry went back to university to finish her Bachelor of Science degree. In 1994, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Nursing. Since then she has worked as a registered nurse at St. Lukes Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts on a per diem basis between teaching clinics, and training Out and About as well as other young horses.
